Deep Cleansing Facial

What is a Deep Cleansing Facial?

A deep tissue facial massage is a specialized treatment that targets the deeper layers of the face's muscles and connective tissues. It's designed to relieve tension and pain, and improve the skin's appearance.

Benefits of Deep Cleansing Facial

  • Improves circulation: Deep tissue massage increases blood flow, which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to the skin

  • Reduces inflammation: The massage can help reduce puffiness and acne-causing hormones

  • Stimulates nerve endings: The massage can awaken and revitalize the skin's cells

  • Relieves tension: The massage can help release chronic pain and tightness in the face

  • Promotes healthy skin: The massage can help detoxify the skin and promote a more radiant complexion

  • Potential benefits:
    • Enhanced lymphatic drainage
    • Smoother skin texture
    • Minimized appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
    • Contoured facial features

 Who might benefit:

  • People with tense jaw muscles, TMJ disorders, or headaches
  • People who want to improve their skin's appearance and reduce signs of aging

How to Prepare for a Session?

 Key steps to prepare:

  • Cleanse your face: Thoroughly remove all makeup and dirt with a cleanser suitable for your skin type.

  • Hydrate your skin: Apply a lightweight facial oil or serum to provide slip for the massage and allow for smooth movements.

  • Communicate with your esthetician: Inform them about any areas of concern, sensitivities, or skin conditions you have.

  • Stay hydrated: Drink water before your appointment to support healthy skin function.

  • Wear comfortable clothing: Choose loose, comfortable clothing that won't restrict your movements during the treatment.

  • Relax your mind: Arrive a few minutes early to unwind and prepare for the facial.

Important considerations:

  • Avoid harsh exfoliants: Don't use harsh scrubs or peels immediately before your deep tissue facial, as this could irritate your skin.

  • Sun protection: Apply sunscreen with SPF as needed before your appointment.

  • Be aware of potential discomfort: Deep tissue facials can be more intense than regular facials, so be prepared for some pressure and possible mild discomfort.

What Happens During a Session?

Key points about a deep tissue facial:

  • Focus on deeper layers: Unlike a regular facial massage, deep tissue techniques go beyond the surface layers of the skin to work on the underlying muscles and fascia.

  • Firm pressure and slow strokes: The therapist uses deliberate, firm pressure with slow, deep movements to target tension points and release muscle knots.

  • May include techniques like:
    • Kneading motions
    • Deep tissue rolling
    • Pressure point stimulation
    • Buccal massage (working inside the mouth)

Important considerations:

  • Consultation is key: Before a deep tissue facial, discuss any concerns or sensitivities with your esthetician to ensure the treatment is suitable for you.

  • Potential discomfort: Due to the deep pressure applied, some discomfort may be experienced, especially in areas with high tension.

What to do After a Session?

  • Hydrate: Drink ample water to help flush out toxins and support skin healing.

  • Gentle cleansing: Use a mild cleanser to clean your face without further irritating the skin.

  • Moisturizing: Apply a gentle, hydrating moisturizer to replenish moisture lost during the treatment.

  • Avoid harsh products: Skip exfoliants, retinoids, and other active ingredients for a few days to allow the skin to recover.

  • Sun protection: Always apply sunscreen with SPF to protect your skin from sun damage.

  • Makeup minimalization: Avoid heavy makeup application for at least 24 hours.

  • No strenuous activities: Avoid intense exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating for a day or two. Aware and note down changes and report back on your next visit.
